Sevenoaks District Council have now validated the planning application for our 49.9MW Chimmens Solar Farm, proposed on land between Horton Kirby and Fawkham.

In July 2023 we consulted on our preliminary solar layout and the initial design. This included posting out nearly a thousand newsletters to local residents; hosting a public exhibition at Fawkham Village Hall with full details and a feedback form on our website; and consultation with local parish councils.
 
Following a detailed design process, taking into consideration feedback from the community and stakeholders, as well as the results of site surveys and assessments, the following design changes have been made:

• including a minimum 100m buffer between residential properties and solar infrastructure. A minimum 200m buffer has been achieved to the north west of the site;
• new native woodland screening on the northern boundary of the site and extensive new hedgerow planting throughout; and
• changes to inverter and storage locations to benefit from existing mature native hedgerows so that screening will take effect immediately.
